Deep Tissue Massage is a massage technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas. It helps with chronic muscular pain, injury rehabilitation and may reduce inflammation. Deep tissue massage usually focuses on more specific areas and may cause some soreness during or right after the massage. However, you should feel better than ever within a day or two. When muscles are stressed, they block oxygen and nutrients, leading to inflammation that builds up toxins in the muscle tissue. A deep-tissue massage helps loosen muscle tissues, release toxins from muscles and gets blood and oxygen circulating properly. Because many toxins are released, it's important to drink plenty of water after a deep-tissue session to help eliminate these toxins from the body.
Sports Massage
Used primarily for the serious athlete who trains continuously. It focuses on the muscles relevant to the particular athletic activity. It can also include pre-event, post-event and maintenance techniques that promote greater athletic endurance and performance, lessen chances of injury and reduce recovery time.
Swedish/Relaxation Massage
Swedish massage can relax muscles, increase circulation, and remove metabolic waste products. It helps the recipient obtain a feeling of connectedness, and a better awareness of their body and the way they use and position it. It improves circulation without increasing heart load, and stretches the ligaments and tendons, keeping them supple. Swedish massage also stimulates the skin and nervous system while at the same time relaxing the nerves themselves. As it can help reduce emotional and physical stress it is often recommended as part of a regular program for stress management.
Prenatal Massage
Prenatal massage shares many of the goals of regular massage — to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility, and just make you feel good. But it's also tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies. Our skilled therapists will adjust their techniques according to the woman’s needs. Massage may decrease stress and promote relaxation, and enhance the physiological and emotional well-being of both mother and baby.
Hot Stone Massage
A unique connection with nature. Stone massage involves the application of water-heated stones of varying sizes to key points on the body, giving a deep massage and creating sensations of comfort and warmth. The direct heat relaxes muscles, allowing manipulation of a greater intensity than with regular massage.
Esoteric Healing
The energy field surrounds and permeates all living beings. Within the energy field are seven major centers, the Chakras. They are located at or near, major nerve centers or ganglia within the body. Each of these Chakras energizes its related nerve center, endocrine gland and internal organ system. It is within this energy field that the cause of disease can be located. The practitioner identifies weaknesses within the energy field and uses techniques to bring balance and harmony to the system.
During treatment a person may sit or lie down. No physical contact is required. The therapist reads the client's energy field and seeks out imbalances with the goal being to restore balance. Some individuals may feel nothing while others may experience deep relaxation, or movement. Since our mental and emotional states affect the energy field, thoughts and feelings may arise either during the session or even days later. Esoteric healing works on the physical, emotional, mental and Soul levels of the body. (written by Dave & Pat Krajovic)
Reflexology
Reflexology is a form of massage which applies pressure to certain parts of the hands and feet in order to promote relaxation and healing elsewhere in the body. It is based on the belief that each part of the body is interconnected through the nervous system to the hands and feet. The therapist stimulates specific reflex points in the feet to bring nutrients to poorly functioning areas of the body. This can help restore balance throughout the body and achieve homeostasis.
A 15 minute foot bath with essential oils can be combined with a ½ hr reflexology to achieve optimal relief.
Raindrop Therapy
Raindrop therapy combines soothing aromas with the application of essential oils through light massage and reflexology. The oils are applied to the bottom of the feet and along the spine to aid in structural and electrical alignment. This technique gently facilitates the healing process by bringing balance to the physical body, and aligning and clearing the energy centers. Some potential benefits include relief of arthritis, headaches, chronic joint and muscle pain, neuropathy, ms, and aids in promoting a healthy digestive system. It also strengths the immune system, enabling the body to ward off illness more effectively.
Chair Massage
Chair massage is a short (10-20 minute) massage in a portable massage chair. The client remains fully clothed and no oils are used while their shoulders, neck, upper back, head and arms are massaged. On-Site is popular at some offices as an employee benefit. Many people experience a decrease in stress, an increase in energy levels, and relief from stiff or painful muscles after a chair massage. The company may wish to treat their employees as a morality booster, or individuals may pay for their own time. We are also available for occasions such as festivals or a fun girl’s night! Please schedule in advance.
